The Colussi Family of India!

Greetings from Chennai. I intend to keep in constant communication with you about my whereabouts, activities, thoughts and plans. This is one way of growing as a Region.
I am saddened to hear the news of the death of Fr. Dino Colussi SDB. With him virtually the "tribe" of Colussi Family of missionaries to India comes to a glorious end. I have had personally the opportunity of knowing only two of them - Luciano and Dino. As most of you know, there were six of them from the same family including an FMA, all of whom worked, died and are buried in India! When I met Fr. Luciano during the Visitation of Kolkata Province he came on to me as vigorous and creative missionary at the age of 80. He was always on the move and took me around and explained things to me like a young man. His eyes were full of plans and zeal for the Kingdom. I was highly impressed by his Salesian mentality, and the creativity with which he had established a visual catechetical structure called "Christo-Mandir". It was sad to hear that in the next few months he died.

I had known less of Fr. Dino, except for some fleeting meetings in the provincial house of Delhi. But I could feel his dedication and hard work to sustain the province financially, which was the only work he could do at this age. The other brothers had also been very creative in their missionary work and their social development strategies.

I would like to remind our confreres of the desire of the Rector Major for our Region: "India has received much through the missionaries. Now Indian confreres must be generous enough to contribute to the strength of the Congregation in other parts of the world where there is need!"

May the soul of Fr. Dino rest in peace.
