Circular of Don Bosco to the Salesians on spreading good books = ASC A1750411 given on Turin 19 March, 1885
Presently, Youcat is the best seller in the Catholic World after the Holy Bible. It is an ideal catechism for the youth. However, we are yet to have an Indian edition of this Youcat with Indian photos. The publishers of Youcat have permitted to incorporate Indian photos in the present Youcat. So, you can now be part of the Youcat. If you wish to be part of the Indian Youcat, you can send us the photos needed for this new edition. The creators of selected photos will be acknowledged in the new edition and will be amply rewarded. The conditions are in the PDF file at this link: Conditions.pdf - Fr. Gilbert Choondal

A Report of the three-day Council meeting of the Don Bosco YOuth Animation South Asia, held at DBI Guwahati from 3rd to 5th November 2012.
Today in India, particularly in Tamil Nadu, we celebrate the feast of the martyr, St. John de Britto, who changed his name to ``Arulànandar`` in Tamil. I hear that he changed his name to Tamil, and dressed himself as the ordinary itinerant monks (or saadhus) of the era. He learned Tamil very quickly and preached the Gospel in the remotest villages. He wanted to identify himself totally with the local populations and found that his white skin was a hindrance. So, reportedly, he wrote to his friends in Portugal and asked them whether they have some kind of ointment that could turn his skin to be more brownish so that he could completely resemble his people! What a spirit of Incarnation and inculturation!

When on various occasions I have accompanied groups of young people on their visits to Colle Don Bosco, I have noticed how deeply moved they are before the little house at the Becchi and the humble surroundings in which Don Bosco spent his boyhood. God always uses poor means for the accomplishment of his designs. The same path was followed by Jesus of Nazareth (cf. Phil 2,5-11), and is the road he points out to his disciples as we have just heard in the Gospel: ``Unless you change and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven``.
But what does it mean to ``become like children``? ...Download Doc

Salesians have been in the forefront of Catechetical movement in India and have contributed in no small measure to the catechetical renewal in the Church in India. Several Salesians, qualified in Catechetics, are on the teaching faculties of seminaries and Institutes of Higher Studies in India and abroad. The Indian Catechetical Association (ICA), which came into being in 1996, was the initiative of Fr. Thomas Kalathuveetil SDB. Salesians have led the Association for a number of years. The ICA offers a forum for catechetical experts to share, reflect upon and study catechetical issues in India. It also fosters research and publication in Catechetics.
