Celebrating 100 years of Grace: The Remarkable Legacy of Fr. Mathew Pulingathil, SDB

In a world of constant change, some lives shine as beacons of consistency, dedication, and grace. Such is the life of Fr. Mathew Pulingathil, SDB, who recently celebrated his 100th birthday. As the first Indian Provincial of the then-undivided Guwahati Province, and later the first Provincial of the newly formed Dimapur Province, his century-long journey stands as a testament to unwavering faith, tireless service, and a profound impact on the communities he has served.

Fr. Mathew Pulingathil is known for his deep compassion and dedication, particularly in the Tinsukia Parish, where he currently resides. The anticipated celebration on May 25 featured a solemn Eucharistic ceremony attended by 22 priests, Bishop Albert Hemrom, DD, of the Dibrugarh Diocese, and Bishop Emeritus Joseph Aind. Following the Eucharist, a cultural program honored Fr. Mathew, with both bishops expressing deep gratitude for his dedicated service to the diocese, especially his role as the appointed confessor by Bishop Joseph Aind.

DREAM campaigns tobacco-free society on World No Tobacco Day

The DREAM (Drug Rehabilitation Education and Mentoring) team from BREADS (Bangalore Rural Educational And Development Society) engaged the youth in various districts in Kerala, India, to warn and protect them from tobacco use on 31st May, World No Tobacco Day. The awareness program offered help to quit tobacco use and enforce bans on tobacco advertising, promotion and sponsorship.

Don Bosco YaR National Forum unveils comprehensive Child Safeguarding Policy

The Don Bosco National Forum for the Young at Risk (YaR) launched a comprehensive new Child Safeguarding Policy and Essential Protocols at the closing ceremony of the Extraordinary Visitation, held at the Provincial House, New Delhi, on 30th May. It marked a significant step toward strengthening Don Bosco YaR Forum’s commitment to child protection. The policy establishes strong protocols, rules and response procedures to provide a safe and loving environment for children and young people in all Don Bosco YaR institutions and programs.
