Darjeeling, known as the producer of arguably the best quality tea in India, has produced 12 Salesians for 03 provinces under the care of Father Samuel Mondal, the Novice Master and his team. The novices made their 1st religious profession at Nazareth Bhavan, Dhajea Busty on 24 May 2020. 06 of the newly professed belong to Kolkata province [INC], 04 to Guwahati province [ING] and 03 to New Delhi province [INN]. . Don Bosco Nitika Catechetical Centre based at Kolkata, has initiated ASK - Answers for Seekers of the Kingdom. The talks live-streamed on YouTube Channel Kolkata Salesians is the initiative of Nitika Director Father Gilbert Choondal, as several catechetical seminars are cancelled with the COVID-19 lockdown. Father Choondal answers questions on Catholic faith raised by the viewers, after ASK Online collects questions through emails, Whatsapp and SMS. The talk show started on 01 May 2020 and is viewed by about 1000 people from across the world. Nitika Catechetical Centre plans to launch similar content in Bengali, Santhali and Hindi. Over 100 topics are discussed already at ASK Online. Father Patrick Lepcha hosts the same programme in Nepali.. Read More

The Salesian Province of St. Francis Xavier Bombay [INB] mourns with great sadness the demise of Father Byron Anthony D'Silva, aged 77, on 27 May 2020 at 14:15hrs, at the Holy Spirit Hospital Andheri-Mumbai. He was a Salesian of Don Bosco for 56 years. The funeral service will be a private ceremony, due to the COVID-19 lockdown restrictions protocol. Born at Dramapur-Goa on 15 February 1943, Father D'Silva did his novitiate and made his 1st Religious Profession at Yercaud on 24 May 1964. He was ordained priest on 16 December 1972 at Panjim.. Father Chrysanthus Saldanha, fondly called 'Chrys' is currently based at Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. He commemorated the Golden Jubilee of his sacerdotal ordination on 17 May. He also celebrates the Diamond Jubilee of his religious profession this year. Father Saldanha has dedicated himself to Salesian Formation and has also served as MumbaiSalesians' Provincial of St. Francis Xavier Bombay [INB]. On 24 May, the Solemnity of the Ascension of the Lord, the Sacred Heart Novitiate, Manoharabad of the Province of St Joseph Hyderabad [INH] offered 10 young men, who made a courageous and generous offering of themselves to the Lord through their 1st Salesian religious profession. They were joined by 03 clerics who renewed their vows and 03 more clerics who made their perpetual profession.
