Four Salesian Priests ordained - Province of Hyderabad Hyderabad, Dec. 21. The Salesian Province of Hyderabad (INH) celebrated the Priestly Ordination of four of her sons on 21st December 2019. The Holy Order of Priesthood was conferred on them by Most Rev. Dr Govindu Joji, DD, Bishop of Nalgonda at Our Don Bosco Shrine, Bandlaguda Jagir, Hyderabad.
The four Priests who were ordained are Father Gadesula Naresh, Father Kasu Lourdu Reddy, Father Narisetty Anup Kumar and Father Palem Jeevan Kumar. The candidates have completed their four years of theological formation at Kristu Jyothi College, Bengaluru.
The parents and relatives of the deacons and a huge number of Salesians from the province; priests and religious from the native dioceses of the deacons participated in the solemn liturgy.
The candidates for the ordination were presented to the Most Rev. Dr Govindu Joji, DD, Bishop of Nalgonda by Father Thathireddy Vijaya Bhaskar sdb, the Salesian Provincial of Hyderabad.
The Bishop ordained the candidates by imploring God's graciousness and anointed them as priests to proclaim the gospel, to baptize and to administer the sacraments.
Addressing the newly ordained priests, Bishop Govindu Joji highlighted the significance of the Order of the Priesthood in his homily and reminded them about the primary function of all priests is administering the church's seven sacraments: baptism, confirmation, confession, holy communion, marriage, holy orders, and anointing of the sick and doing them from the heart. He also told that another important task of the priest is to be a mediator between God and Man.
After the Holy Eucharist, Father Thathireddy Vijaya Bhaskar, the Provincial, felicitated Bishop Govindu Joji and the parents of the four ordained priests and thanked them. The new priests thanked all the dignitaries and thier parents and well wishers.
