Mumbai, Nov. 15. Tokyo - The eight Directors of Salesian Publishers based in the regions of South Asia and East Asia-Oceania met at Chofu Seminary in Tokyo, Japan for  two full days of discussion and reflection on the situation of Salesian Publishers in Asia-Oceania and South Asia.

Fr Mario Yamanouchi SDB, the Japanese Provincial, together with the delegate and team for Social Communication welcomed all the participants warmly and made the meeting a successful encounter.
The meeting was chaired by the Councilor General for Social Communications, Fr Filiberto Gonzalez SDB assisted by his secretary Brother Ephrem Santos.  Ms Marta Palomares (Edebe-Spain), the coordinator of the European Salesian Publishers,  shared some best practices of her region and recommended each of the houses to collaborate with each other from the various regions.
It is the first time that the three Publishers from India have met with those of East Asia-Oceania, paving the way for small positive outcomes based on a realistic view of the various situations of the nine Salesian Publishing Houses of these two regions. One of the outcomes was the election of Coordinators for the Salesian Publishing Houses in the two regions. Fr John Kennedy Mariaprakasam SDB (INM) is the Coordinator for South Asia and Fr Alex Garces SDB (FIN) for East Asia-Oceania.
Recommendations were formulated to be presented to the Provincials and Regional Councilors of the two regions so that collaboration is made easier and the positive impact of the publishers upon society is assured, following the example of Don Bosco the communicator. During the two days of meeting the participants also visited the ''Don Bosco Sha'' Publishing House of Tokyo and the tomb of the servant of God Fr Vincent Cimatti.
Now there will be a number of monitored activities and common projects until the next meeting which is expected to take place in 2019.
Father Joaquim Fernandes, Father Bastin Nellissery and Father John Kennedy Mariaprakasam represented the three Salesian publishing houses from India.
