MEGA TALENT SHOW By David Mariaselvam SDBChennai, Aug. 8. In an awesome display of youthful talents, over a thousand boys and girls from twenty different Don Bosco institutions in Chennai vied with each other at the Don Bosco Mega Talent Show, Season 3, held at the Don Bosco Institute of Communication Arts (DBICA), Kilpauk, on 07 August 2015.
The participants displayed their talents through competitions in Singing, Dancing, Mime, Elocution, Poetry, Painting, '60 seconds to fame' and so on. Film actress and singer Andrea Jeremiah and music director Srikanth Deva were the special guests who graced the occasion and encouraged the participants and gave away the prizes to the winners during the grand finale in the evening. Earlier, in the morning, the talent show was inaugurated by Father Deva Joe the Vice-President of Don Bosco Institutions, in the presence of Father John Christy, director of DBICA, and other dignitaries.
This annual show was launched in the year 2013 in view of the bicentenary of Don Bosco's birth to offer a platform to talented youngsters, especially those from rural areas, to showcase their talents and possibly capture the attention of mainstream media.
Competitors who cleared the preliminary rounds in individual and group items had to prove their mettle at the grand 4-hour-long finale which proved to be a veritable feast of talents. The singers, dancers and speakers held the audience spellbound by their exquisite performance, executing everything with great poise and finesse! In the '60-seconds-to-fame' event, the youthful competitors both amused and amazed the audience with their unmatchable deftness and dexterity. You had to see it to believe what one could achieve in just a minute of sixty seconds! One of the judges remarked at the end of the show, ''It was so gripping from the start to the finish.''
Many parents and teachers were also there to witness their children displaying their talents on stage.
