FR. RAJENDRA EKKA SDB PASSES AWAY By Fr. Bivan R. MukhimGuwahati, Jul. 26. The Salesian Province of Mary Help of Christians, Guwahati deeply mourns the passing away of Rev Father Ekka Rajendra SDB on Sunday, 26th July 2015 at 11.45 am at Gridih, Jharkhand. The Funeral Mass will be held at 3.00 pm on Monday, 27th July, 2015 at Don Bosco, Hatia, Ranchi, followed by the funeral rites.
Father Rajendran was born on 30th May 1972 at Buchchi, Bihar in the diocese of Hazaribagh to Lt. Mr. Francis Ekka and Lt. Mrs. Marcelina Tigga. He made his first profession at Sunnyside, Shillong on 01st April 1993 and his final profession on 25th March 1999 at Guwahati. He did his philosophy study from the Salesian Philosophate at Dimapur from 05th April 1993 to 24th May 1996 and his Theology from Sacred Heart Theological College, Shillong from 15th June 1999 to 25th June 2002. He was ordained a priest on 28th December 2002 at his native place Hazaribagh.
His first assignment as a priest was as the counsellor at Savio Juniorate, Shillong from 25th June 2002 till 22nd January 2004. After his tenure at Savio Juniorate, he was appointed as the Asst. Parish Priest of Doomni and took over as the Parish Priest on 5th April 2006. On 14th June 2007, he was appointed as the Vice Rector and Asst. Parish Priest of Tangla where he served till 24th February 2009. On 24th February 2009 he was appointed by the Provincial as the Asst. Director of Bosco Yuva Niketan at Tezpur. He was also asked to complete his LLB from Tezpur University. On completion of his studies, he was appointed as the Asst. Parish Priest of Tangla. He was there from 15th May 2012 to 24th May 2014. On 24th May 2014, he was appointed to the Provincial House to take over as the in-charge of the Legal Cell Aid till he was diagnosed with cancer.
His companions and friends remember him fondly as a warm-hearted Salesian who could relate impartially with all. He loved the deprived and the poor. He identified himself with them and lived like them. He spent his last days cheerfully, surrendering himself to God and praying for the whole province and the communities.
There will be a concelebrated Requiem Mass at 6.30 pm, on Monday, 27th July 2015 at Don Bosco Provincial House Guwahati. All Religious, Priests, the Faithful and Friends are invited to attend the Services and pray for the repose of his soul.
