Guwahati, Mar. 13. The Salesian General Councillor for Youth Ministry, Fr. Fabio Attard SDB, while visiting Don Bosco Socio-technical Institute (DBSTI), Tezpur on Sunday 8th March 2015 lauded the significant role of women in the mission of Don Bosco.  He was addressing about 170 students and members of the Salesian family at DBSTI Tezpur during a cultural programme organized to welcome him to Tezpur. His words of encouragement and exhortation came also in the context of the International Women's Day comemmorated on that day.
Fr. Fabio Attard applauded the girls and Sisters on Women's Day, and pointing out to the comemmoration said,  ''Mama Margaret played a fundamental role in Don Bosco's life and vocation. She was instrumental in fulfilling Don Bosco's Dream. That and other facts indicate that women play a very significant role in our mission.'' He thanked the Sisters who worked in collaboration with the Salesians, for their dedicated services and for playing the part of Mama Margaret in the Salesian mission.

''Don Bosco was not a one man show, he involved many religious as well as lay collaborators in his mission,'' he pointed out. He exhorted those assembled saying that ''Don Bosco's work should not stop whatever be the situations, troubles on our way, or problems we have to face. We should move on.''  Addressing the Salesians specifically he said,  ''Every young person has a right to a good future. You need to assure them of that.''  Then he said to the young people,''We believe in your future, we are doing our part, and you do yours!'' He further exhorted the youth saying, ''When you have reached a certain position, reach out to the poor people and do whatever you can for them, however small or little it may be. There is joy and satisfaction in doing it.''

Fr. Attard was impressed by the presence of the Bishop Emeritus of Tezpur Robert Kerketta SDB at the function, and was overjoyed to receive a grand welcome to Tezpur.

Bisides the Bishop, as dignitaries there were present the Salesian Provincial of Guwahati province Fr. V.M Thomas, and the Provincial Secretary of Dimapur Province Fr. C. M. Jose.

The students showcased a brilliant and colourful cultural program exhibiting the various cultures of the North East for the General Councillor.
