Jubilee Celebration of Priests of The Province of Bangalore

Bangalore, Oct. 19. The solemn jubilee celebration of our confreres at the province level was held on 17th November 2015, at Don Bosco College, Mannuthy. This year ten confreres from INK are celebrating their sacerdotal jubilees: Fr. Joseph Thekedathu and Fr. Anthony Mampra celebrating their Diamond Jubilee; Fr. Devasia Punnakunnel celebrating the Golden Jubilee; Fr. George Kalangara, Fr. Joe Kallupurackakam, Fr. Jolly Kavilaveettil, Fr. George Muttathuprambil, Fr. Mathew Panamkattu, Fr. Anthony Vailatt and Fr. Thomas Meckattuparambil celebrating their Silver Jubilee.

The celebration began at 10 a.m. with a thanksgiving Holy Eucharist followed by felicitation and fellowship meal. A sizeable number of Salesians and Salesian family members were present. The Holy Eucharist was presided over by Fr. Devasia Punnakunnel and the homily was preached by Fr. Joe Kallupurackakam.

After the Holy Eucharist there was a colourful felicitation programme with a well-prepared cultural show put up by Don Bosco Aluva, Don Bosco Bhavan Mannuthy, Don Bosco Cultural Centre Vennala and Don Bosco Sachivothamapuram. Fr. Varghese Thannippara, the Rector of Don Bosco College, Mannuthy, welcomed the gathering. On behalf of the province Fr. Joyce Francis, the Provincial, felicitated all the jubilarians and thanked them for their exemplary life and committed service as Salesian priests.

Thou Art a Priest Forever
With you the morning awakens
With the call to rise
Not for you
But always for others.

God handpicked you from a myriad of souls
Molded you since you were a babe
To prepare you for a journey
Not for you
But always for others.

God blessed you with wisdom
To use to give form to his plans
And love to carry them out
Not for you
But always for others.

You hold the Body of Christ
Embrace his name and proclaim it
And a father and counselor you have become
Not for you
But always for others.

Congratulations to all the Jubilarians.
