National Conference on Educators for Change in Chennai

Chennai, Jan. 30. The Don Bosco School of Excellence, Egmore, Chennai, is holding a two-day National Conference on Educators for Change on13-14 February 2015. Eminent scholars, thinkers and change-makers from across the country will address the participants and interact with them. The event is open to Educationists, Principals/ Headmasters, Government officials, Corporates and others who are interested and are concerned about the present and future of education in the country and in the world. The Conference is a tribute to Don Bosco, the great Educator and Change-Maker, in the Bicentenary Year of his birth.
Some of the issues the Conference will grapple with are the following:
# Education and Technology - the importance of technology-blended learning and preparedness of educators to integrate technology in education;
# Inclusion in education and curriculum - integrating the socially, economically and differently-abled students into the mainstream;
# Achieving the Right to Education - ways of implementing the RTE;

A panel discussion will take up issues like autonomy, creativity, equity in school education, the policies of the government and its role as a proactive and enabling agent of change and the responsibility of educators to be change-makers.

Speakers at the Conference include:
Prof. M. S. Swaminathan, Father of India's Green Revolution, and founder of M.S. Swaminathan Research Foundation;
Mr. Lakshmi Narayanan, Vice-Chairman of Cognizant Technology Solutions;
Fr. Thomas Kunnunkal S. J., Former Chairman, CBSE, Delhi;
Mr. N. Ram, Director, the Hindu Group of Publications;
Mr. G. Viswanathan, Founder & Chancellor VIT University;
Dr. K. Ramanarayan, Vice Chancellor, Manipal University;
Mr. Sashi Kumar, Chairman, Media Development Foundation; and
Prof. Jayati Gosh, Professor of Economic, Centre for Economic Studies & Planning, JNU, New Delhi.

The Conference aims at making educators become change-makers who are capable of handling challenges with confidence and turning good institutions to great ones, educators capable of questioning the world inside and outside their institutions, capable of re-thinking the present and shaping the future.
