Kolkata, Feb. 3. The only feast we celebrate in the novitiate was celebrated with fervour on January 30 and 31, 2014 at Nazareth Bhavan the Salesian novitiate. The participants from the local institutions witnessed a fusion of spiritual and cultural elements since the novices come from provinces as Kolkata, New Delhi and Guwahati.
January known as Don Bosco's month was replete with programmes like sermonettes, novena and competitions which create a special Salesian tone. It all came to a climax on 30th January when the novices showcased for an hour and thirty minutes their talents on stage.  The neighbouring religious communities and their formees witnessed such gifted young men performing on stage instrumental music, group songs and dance.  Bernard Mardi who led the theme song 'Monk or no Monk' said, ''It was my friends' and superiors' expressions of love, vigour and youthfulness which spurred me to share my love for Don Bosco in the cultural programme.''  ''It was a beautiful celebration of Don Bosco's feast, making the world know the values of love and forgiveness,'' observed novice Jeremiah who took the role of the protagonist in the one act play 'The Day of Atonement'. That was not all. The choir song 'Hail Dear Pastor Hail' conducted by novice Marcus Kurbah and melodiously sung by all the novices, was a fitting expression of their gratitude to Don Bosco for their Salesian vocation.

The celebration of the feast is to reawaken the immense potential we all have to leave a Salesian mark in our world, taking inspiration from Don Bosco, a man who dared to think and act differently from his contemporaries, was the focal point of the message given by the Director of novices.  The Holy Eucharist on the following day and other activities brought the celebrations to a happy conclusion.
