Midyear Evaluation Of Youth Services in Tiruchy Province

Tiruchy, Nov. 25. 22 Salesians actively participated in the mid-year evaluation meeting for Youth Service Coordinators in Don Bosco Provincial House, Tiruchy on 12 November 2013. Fr. Doss Kennedy, the Vice Provincial and the Head of the Youth Pastoral Core Team disseminated the key concepts and plans emerging from National DBYA meeting. Fr. K.P Vincent coordinated the mid-year evaluation of Youth Services.

At the start of the meeting Fr. John Kennedy, Vice Provincial, presented the youth pastoral situation of the province pointing out to the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of the youth pastoral ministry in the province. He also discussed about the processes that enhanced and enriched the youth pastoral work in the past six years and he presented some of the urgent needs of youth ministry. He presented also the ideas of Fr. Fabio Attard, the general councillor for youth ministry, on \''Rethinking Youth Ministry\'' in which the structure of youth ministry was discussed.

Fr. Vincent, Youth Coordinator, shared about the youth activities carried out in the present academic year at the Province and Zonal levels. After his sharing, all the members shared in their turn about the youth activities which are carried out in their Presences.

An interesting observation of the assembly was that there emerged many models of youth ministry. It is an eye-opener for all the youth ministers in the Province and which is also a learning experience for many other youth groups.

Time was provided also for evaluating the various events that had taken place in this academic year in different zones and to plan for the forth coming zonal and province level programmes.

At the end of the presentation Fr. Provincial exhorted the coordinators to create systems which will keep the youth group active, alive and always surmounting difficulties. He also appreciated Fr. Vincent, the province youth director and all the coordinators for efficiently taking the youth ministry to a higher and better level.
