Cyber Crime Seminar at DBCE Fatorda

Panjim, Sep. 10. C-CODES (Council of Computer Department Engineering Students), Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda organized a guest seminar on ''Cyber Crimes and Cyber Laws in India'' on 9th September 2013. Shri.  Atmaram Deshpande,IPS, Superintendent of Police, was the resource person. The seminar was attended by second year and third year Computer Engineering Students.
Mr. Deshpande highlighted the distinction between the computer and cybercrimes. He also stressed on the sensitivity of the issue, considering that students these days engage in consistent use of technology and Internet. He explained to the students the types of crimes, and modus operandi of most cyber criminals so that they are well prepared to prevent and protect themselves from such crimes.

The Information Technology Act, 2008 with its various Chapters and Sections was also explained to the students.

The students benefited very much from the lecture which is also part of their curriculum, thus having an industry opinion of the topic. The real life incidents and cybercrime cases presented by Mr. Deshpande gave the students an exposure to the dark side of cyberspace.

Ms. Rynelle Rocha compered and introduced the guest speaker while Ms. Marjie Rodrigues proposed the vote of thanks.
Director of Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fr. Kinley D'Cruz and Principal, Dr. C.S. Gokhale, were also present.  The departmental faculty Mr. Amit Patil and Ms. Roseline Fernandes coordinated the seminar.
