Kolkata and Delhi Salesian Brothers Meet in the City of Joy

Kolkata, Sep. 13. A combined animation programme for the Salesian Brothers of Kolkata and New Delhi Provinces was held at Provincial House, Kolkata from 1st to 4th September, 2013.  Bro. Savio D'Mello from Mumbai province assisted by Bro. Johny Thaiparambil from Kolkata Province animated the sessions centred on the theme ''The Call to Holiness - The Wounded Healer'', in preparation for the event to ensue  The 7th Congress of the SDB Brothers.
The inaugural session with twenty participants began in the evening of 1st September with a welcome note by Fr. TV Jacob, Rector of the Provincial House.

During the Holy Eucharist and Adoration which followed, the Brothers thanked God for their call and prayed for more labourers.

The main programmes in the following days consisted of animated prayers, Mass and three sessions during the day. Evenings were dedicated to pilgrimages to various Churches.  

On 4th September, the last day of the programme, the Brothers left for Bandel to pray for the deceased and intercede for more vocations to Salesian life.

''Bro. Savio gave a spiritual touch to all the sessions,'' said one of the senior Brothers. The sessions were well planned and rich in content.  Fr. Thomas Ellicherail, Provincial animated one of the sessions presenting the letter of the Rector Major and sharing news about the beatification of Stephen Sandor a Salesian Brother who underwent martyrdom.

The participants had sufficient time to visit other Don Bosco Institutions where Salesian Brothers are actively involved in imparting technical education namely, Don Bosco Liluah, Don Bosco Park Circus and DBSERI.

At DBSERI Bro. TV Mathew screened a documentary on a girl named Ritu with the theme 'empowering the poor women' produced by the students of DBSERI Mirpara.

''The fruits of this animation will be seen in the forthcoming congress,'' said Br. Sanjeet from INN Province.
