Don Bosco University Convocation Scheduled

Guwahati, Sep. 7.  The Assam Don Bosco University is holding its second annual convocation, from 4.30 pm on Saturday 21st September 2013 at its Azara Campus, Guwahati. The convocation registration for graduating students closes on 15th September. Application forms are available online at www.dbuniversity.ac.in.
LIVE Video streaming of the colourful convocation ceremony is planned and links for the same will be available on ADBU website www.dbuniversity.ac.in. A deferred prime time telecast of the ceremony is scheduled for Sunday, 22 September on Prag News Channel in Assam, and countrywide on Dish Tv Channel No 855.

Besides the Chancellor of ADBU and the Salesian Provincial of Guwahati Rev Fr V.M. Thomas, and ADBU Vice Chancellor Dr (Fr.) Stephen Mavely, several dignitaries from civil, church and academic institutions will grace the occasion.

His Excellency, Shri Janaki Ballav Patnaik, Governor of Assam and Visitor to the University will preside over the function along with Chief Minister of the state Shri Tarun Gogoi.

Director of the National Assessment and Accreditation Council Prof. AN Rai will be the Chief Guest and deliver the Convocation Address.

Degrees will be conferred on 298 students of which 192 students will receive bachelor's degree in Engineering & Technology, 16 M.Tech, 27 MSW, 24 MCA and 39 MBA degrees.

Medals under various categories will be awarded to 11 outstanding graduates with the highest CGPA (8 or more) in each programme. The Chancellor's Medal for standing first across the degrees and the Vice Chancellor's Medal for outstanding contribution to campus life will also be awarded on the occasion.

Several commemorative articles emblazoned with the University logo as well as Convocation 2013 DVD will be available for purchase from counters at the University premises.

Every graduating participant at the convocation will get a specially prepared scarf made to mark the occasion.

Established in 2008 as the first state university of Assam, ADBU is run by Don Bosco Society which has 52 institutes of higher education as well as 123 institutes for Technical and Vocational Training in India. Spread out n 132 countries, Don Bosco Society worldwide imparts learning to some 15 million young people, especially belong to the marginalized in society.
