Bangalore, Aug. 10. Towards a fruitful participation in the forthcoming General Chapter, the provincials, the province delegates and observers of the South Asia region met at Siloam in Silchar Province on 8 & 9 August.  In the meeting called by Fr. Maria Arokiam, regional councilor for South Asia, 28 confreres participated.
The first day was spent in recollection, reflecting and sharing on the theme of the General Chapter.  Fr. Stanislaus Swamikannu, Fr. Joe Almeida and Fr. Thathireddy Vijaya Bhaskar led the reflections on the key topics of the Chapter, namely, mystics, prophets and servants.  After each presentation, other members too had the opportunity to share briefly their own thoughts on the topic.  An hour was spent in the evening in groups sharing further on the key topics.  The day concluded with the Eucharist presided over by Fr. Maria Arokiam.

The second day began with the Eucharist presided over by Fr. Thomas Ellicherail, Provincial of Kolkata.  In the first session of the day, the delegates introduced themselves in the assembly, their qualification and experiences, the languages known etc.

In the subsequent session, Fr. Maria Arokiam shared with the delegates the mind of the General Council on certain pertinent matters such as the structure of governance in the Congregation.  As about 18 members are going for General Chapter for the first time, any information about Chapter proceedings enriched the participants. Later every province shared two or three salient proposals of their own respective provincial chapters.

In the afternoon the delegation shared views on some of the issues that will come for discussion at the GC.  The meeting concluded with the Eucharist adoration conducted by Fr Thomas Koonan in the evening.
