''Rooted in Faith'' Strikes the Right Chords in Kapadvanj By BIS CORRESPONDENTMumbai, May. 6. On April 13, 2013 Don Bosco Kapadvanj presented an opera, ''Rooted in Faith'', written and directed by Cl. Shaun D'lima SDB, on the occasion of the the Silver Jubilee of priestly Ordination of Fr Louis, Principal of the Saccidananda School, Thasra.
The story of the Opera was centered on a group of youngsters who decide to change their old ways and in doing so come to the realization of God's powerful presence in their lives. The theme was purposefully chosen since this is the Year of Faith.
The staging of the Opera was indeed an achievement on the part of the aspirants of Don Bosco Kapadvanj, as it was the first time they have staged a musical show of this sort, and that too in English, thus making it a truly big event for themselves. They literally worked themselves to the bone to put up a good show. They were guided by the community of Don Bosco Kapadvanj, and especially by Fr. Ivan, Fr. Alex, Fr. Mayank and Cl. Shaun who urged and guided them to give of their best.
The animation of the song ''Who Am I?'' with hands illuminated by U.V tubes was a hit with the audience. The opera was a catechetical one, and the performers were able to transmit the message on Faith very powerfully helping the audience to realize the importance and presence of God in their own lives too.
The Opera was witnessed by parents, parishioners, and Religious from the Deanery. The parents of the actors especially were proud of their children's performance. One of them remarked, ''You have taken rough stones and turned them into diamonds.'' The deafening applause at the end of the show was a clear sign of the impact the Opera had made on the audience.
Fr. Louis, the Chief Guest, was also thrilled by the performance of the aspirants and he had very encouraging and appreciative words for them. ''Rooted in Faith'' is going to last a long time in the memory of the audience as it has touched them deeply strengthening their faith.
