Bangalore, Apr. 24. The 12th Provincial Chapter of Bangalore Province which had commenced on 19 April was concluded yesterday, 23 April 2013, to the great satisfaction of all the participants.  Towards the end of the Chapter the 87 strong chapter assembly elected Fr. Thomas Koonan and Fr. Jose Vettom as the delegates of the Province to the forthcoming General Chapter which will take place in Rome in 2014.
Meticulous and prayerful preparation, active and responsible participation, focused and intense work were some of the factors that contributed to the success of the Chapter. Several Chapter members also pointed out the very healthy spirit of communion that reigned in the assembly. In the concluding session Fr. Thomas Koonan, the moderator, exhorted that as we continue to journey towards the General Chapter and the bi-centenary celebrations of the birth of St. John Bosco, let courageous deliberations, moderated by the conscience, continue in the hearts of confreres and in communities, to conform ourselves to the radical approach of the Gospel.

On 22 April, the penultimate day, in the election of the delegates for the forthcoming General Chapter, Fr. Thomas Koonan and Fr. Jose Vettom were elected as Province Delegates, Fr. Jose Kuttianimattathil and Fr. George Kollashany being the substitutes.  The evening session that day was spent in voting on the Chapter document.  The Chapter, inaugurated on 19 April, was preceded by a spiritual retreat preached by Fr. Maria Arokiam Kanaga, regional superior for South Asia.  The 87 Chapter members expressed deep appreciation and much satisfaction about the Chapter.

After the conclusion of the Chapter, the confreres moved to the chapel to celebrate a thanksgiving Eucharist which marked also the Provincial Community Day.  Fr. Provincial presided over the Eucharist attended by more than 110 confreres.  Fr. Thannickal George led the choir during the Eucharist and Fr. Jose Koyickal organized the family gathering that followed. The efficient leadership given by Fr. Provincal, ably assisted by the Provincial Council, was much appreciated and thanked.

During the Provincial community day celebration  ''Youth Ministry - Using Salesian Insights'', a book by Fr. Joffie Puthuva and a documentary on Laura Vicuna, directed by Fr. Prince Puthanangady, were also released.
