Kolkata, Apr. 21.      Shillong, 21 April: Sts. Peter and Paul Parish, Pynthorumkhrah inaugurated and blessed a newly constructed Church at Jaroit village by Rev. Fr. (Dr.) Ïoannis Warpakma SDB, the present Parish Priest and former Principal of St. Anthony's College, Shillong.
Fr. Warpakma was also the main celebrant of the Holy Eucharist. To concelebrate with him were Fr. Peter Schiavon SDB (former Parish Priest), Rev. Fr. Saji Stephen SDB (Rector of St. Anthony's College, Shillong), and Fr. Paul Dayo Passah SDB (Lecturer and Sub-Warden of St. Anthony's College, Shillong), and Fr. Melchisedek Kharbhih CMF (Asst. Parish Priest of Mawpat). Speaking on the Word of God, Fr. Warpakma said that the glory of the risen Christ shines even today, of which the church too is a sign.

In the afternoon Rev. Fr. Sylvanus Nongkynrih, Rector of St. Paul Seminary, Upper Shillong animated and preached to the faithful on the Good Shepherd who gave His life for the sheep. He emphasized that we too need to be shepherds as parents and as Church or village leaders in our own capacities.

The Catholic Faithful of Jaroit were excited and happy to have a new church in their village. They expressed their indebtedness to Rev. Fr. Peter Schiavon SDB for his generous contribution and to Rev. Fr. Ioannis Warpakma SDB for making their dreams a reality.
