Tiruchy Don Bosco Alumni Elect a New Leadership Team By Dominic BernatshaTiruchy, Feb. 27. The elections for the Committee of the Tiruchy Provincial Federation of Don Bosco Alumni was held at Don Bosco Provncial House, Tiruchy on 17 February, and a group of young and energetic team of leaders have been elected.
The new office bearers are the following: Mr. Charles Arockasamy (Varadarajanpet Unit) - President; Mr. Santhosh (Thanjavur Unit) - secretary; Mr. Paul Jeyakumar (Varadarajanpet Unit) - Treasurer; Mr. John Baskar (Lalgudi Unit) - Vice President (Senior); Mr. John Peter (DBAI - Coimbatore Unit) - Vice President (Gex); and three Councillors - Mr. Raja (Kazhiappanallur Unit), Mr. George (Madurai Unit), and Mr. Vadivel (Melanmarainadu Unit).
The gathering of the Delegates, Presidents and Secretaries of the 17 units of the DB Alumni Tiruchy Provncial Federation commenced at 10.30 a.m with a prayer song and a Gospel reading by Mr. John Britto the retiring vice president (Senior). Fr. Dominic Bernatsha the provincial delegate welcomed the gathering.
Rev. Fr. Albert Johnson, Provincial, animated the assembled members with presentation on the 'identity and mission of the DB Alumni'. Fr. Doss Kennedy, the Vice Provincial and the Provincial Delegate for the salesian family moderated the presentation of reports from the local units. Fr. Dominic Bernatsha, the Provincial Delegate for DB Alumni and Mr. Irudhayasamy, the retiring president and chief of the election commission presided over the elections.
After the nominated candidates were introduced to the voting members a secret ballot was conducted to elect the eight candidates for the provincial committee of the federation.
The newly elected members thanked the assembly for placing their trust in them. The retiring President Mr. Irudayasamy thanked the Salesians and the alumni members for having co-operated with his leadership. The meeting ended with a hymn to Don Bosco.
