Kolkata, Feb. 6. The Salesian Province of St. John Bosco, Kolkata began its Provincial Chapter at 2.30 PM on February 4, 2013 at Nitika Don Bosco, with a recollection preached by Fr. Tomy Augustine the Rector of Salesian College, Sonada. The inaugural session began at 5.00 PM with Fr. Johny Nedungatt the Moderator, who in the name of Fr. The Chapter is scheduled to end on Saturday 9, 2013 with the celebration of the Provincial Community Day and the New Priests' Day.
Fr. Tomy in his reflection based on the theme of the Chapter, spoke about being credible, visible and fruitful and highlighted the secret of fruitfulness: being a mystic, prophet and servant.

At the inaugural session lamps were lit by the Provincial, Fr. Joseph Pampadiyil the Vice Provincial, Fr. Joseph Manianchira the Economer, and the Chapter Moderator.
After the initial ceremonies, Fr. Provincial in his welcome speech mentioned that the Chapter is the work of the Holy Spirit for which the virtues of faith and patience are required. He invoked the blessing of Don Bosco and the guidance of Mary Help of Christians on all. Messages from Fr. Cereda the Moderator of GC 27 and Fr. Maria Arokiam the South Asian Regional were read out, after which the business sessions began during which the traditional family spirit was not absent.
