An 'Epic' Release

Kolkata, Feb. 4.
Zenon Cardinal Grocholewski, Prefect of the Congregation for Catholic EducatIon, who was on a friendly visit to Kristu Jyoti College released the book entitled ''Kristapurana of Father Thomas Stephens S.J. (1549-1619)'' at the Kristu Jyoti College Auditorium on 30-01-2013.
Kristapurana is an epic poem on the life of Jesus Christ written by Fr. Thomas Stephens, S.J., a Jesuit missionary who worked in Goa from 1579 to 1619.  It was originally  written in Marathi language mixed with Konkani.  Using the literary style of the Hindu puranas, Kristapurana traces the history of salvation from Creation to the Parousia, the focus being on the life of Jesus.  It consists of 10,641 verses.  This is the first time that Kristapurana has been translated into English.

The book is translated and edited by Fr. Nelson Falcao, SDB, an eminent professor and scholar whose works have been highly acclaimed.  He has already received twenty awards for his research and literary work.

This monumental work (94+1708 pages) is published by Kristu Jyoti Publications and is priced at Rs 1200 (20% discount for Salesians).
