The First Salesian History Lovers' Meeting in South Asia Inaugurated

Bangalore, Nov. 15. South Asian Meeting of the Association of the Salesian History Lovers (ACSSA) was inaugurated at Don Bosco Provincial House, Bangalore on 15 November 2014 at 9 am, in the presence of Fr. Maria Arokiam, Regional Councillor, Fr. Thomas Anchukandam, Provincial of Bangalore Province, Fr. Stanislaw Zimniak, the representative from Salesian Generalate, Rome and 26 participants of the Salesian Family of South Asia.
The coordinator of the meeting, Fr. Mathew Kapplikunnel is organising this unique event for the three days for the Salesian Family of South Asia, to instil, motive and inspire love for Salesian Historiography.


ACSSA (Associazione Cultori Storia Salesiana) was erected by the decree of the Rector Major dated 9 October 1996, and it brings together those imbued with a passion for history and committed to research in the Salesian ambit.  As per its statutes ACSSA plans and carries out its projects in close collaboration with the Institute of Salesian History (ISS) in Rome.

Fr. Matthew Kapplikunnel, who is the South Asian delegate for the ACSSA has planned meticulously every detail of with meeting with competent resource persons and relevant topics to bring a passion for history and Salesian Identity in India.

The particiapants ranged from Salesian Family groups - SDB, FMA, The Disciples, SMI, and SMA. During the inaugural talk, Fr. Maria emphasised the need for love for history and documentation among the Salesian India. The messages of Rector Major, Pascual Chavez, SDB, Mother General, Sr. Yvonne Reungoat FMA, were read to the forum. Fr. Mathew explained the dynamics of the seminar to set the ball rolling.
