Kolkata, Nov. 6. The Rector Major, Fr. Pasucal V. Chavez, interacted with the Night School children and later with the Salesians of South Bengal at Don Bosco, Park Circus,  from 4.30 PM onwards on 6th November 2013.  He was accompanied by Fr. Adrian Brigolin, Vicar General, Fr. Maria Arokiam Regional, Councilor for South Asia, Fr. Fr. Juan J. Bartolome, Secretary to the Rector Major, and some of the Provincial Superiors of the Indian Provinces. A large number of Salesians from South Bengal also joined the function. Prior to these meetings he had spent a day of animation with the Provincials of the Provincial Conference.

The Rector Major and his team was welcomed to Don Bosco premises by Fr. Joseph Pathickal, Rector and Principal. The short felicitation programme which followed was smartly compered by Fr. Bikash Mondol, Vice Principal. The night school children danced  and sang songs highlighting themes such as transformation from darkness to light, sharing, caring etc...

While interacting with the children Fr. Chavez once again affirmed the mission of the less privileged to be bearers of light and to be good citizens of India. Taking a cue from Mahatma Gandhi he said, ''Here on earth there is sufficient wealth for everyone - we need to share.''  The Rector Major invited them to feel free and feel at home in the Don Bosco School, and then told them to prepare themselves there to face the challenges of life by studying well.  He exhorted them to collaborate and share, constructing  a new India. Finally he pulled their heart strings saying ''I love you''.

After the programme with the children an evening prayer was conducted for the Salesians at 6.00 PM, which was followed by a conference and interaction with the Rector Major.  Fr. Thomas Ellicherail Provincial, presented the person of Fr. Pascual and then gave a general description of the apostolates undertaken in Kolkata province.  Fr. Chavez shared profoundly for an hour on various Salesian themes  and responded to queries from the Salesians.  Concluding the interaction,  Fr. Thomas thanked Fr. Pascual for his ''passionate talk'' and said that the confreres were highly stimulated and enriched by the sharing which was a moment of growth, and that they looked forward for more on 9th November.

The Community members of Don Bosco Park Circus were outgoing and generous in making the programme smooth and cordial, and preparing a concluding Agape for all with the Rector Major.
