Golden Jubilee Thanksgiving Eucharist at Irinjalakuda

Bangalore, Jan. 13. At the Golden Jubilee Celebrations of Don Bosco, Irinjalakuda, Most Rev Andrews Thazhath, Archbishop of Thrisur, presided over the Thanksgiving Eucharistic Celebration on 12 January 2012.
Don Bosco Schools, Irinjalakuda, turning fifty, is in the zenith of its Golden Jubilee Celebrations. The Solemn Thanksgiving Eucharist on 12 January 2012 was presided over by His Grace Mar Andrews Thazhath (Archbishop of Thrisur and President of Kerala Catholic Bishops' Council). Mar Pauly Kannookadan (Bishop of Irinjalakuda) gave the homily.  Mar James Pazhayattil (Bishop Emeritus of Irinjalakuda) blessed the foundation stone of the Jubilee Memorial ICSC Block and Aquatic Complex. Fr. Thomas Poovelickal (Rector and Manager of Don Bosco Schools) and several other priests concelebrated.

At 10.30 am the bishops were received at the school with a grand CHENDAMELAM (Music Band) conducted by the students of Don Bosco Cultural Centre, Vennala. There was also a host of girls waiting with thalapoli (flower petals) for the reception. To the beats of the solemn entrance hymn of the Mass, the bishops and priests were ushered into the Don Bosco Chapel by the altar servers and students. Then the bishops lighted the lamp. Fr. Thomas Poovelickal then welcomed the bishops and the guests.  The Mass began with the offertory procession represented in by the various sectors and groups of the institution.  After the Holy Communion service Fr. Martin Kuruvanmakal (Convener of the Jubilee Committee) proposed the vote of thanks. After the Mass all the guests, students and parents were served meals. Around four thousand people gathered for the Thanksgiving Eucharist and the fellowship meals.
