Kolkata, Jan. 3. All good things come to an end, and so did the 7th Juboree Meet in Bandel on the New Year Day. The flutter of the Scouts Flag and the Tricolour came to cease as the Bharat Scouts and Guides from different school rallied for the last time in the camp.
At the Valedictory and concluding ceremony held at 10 O'clock morning, the Guest of Honour was Mr. Rajendera Kumar, the State Organizing Commissioner for West Bengal Scouts and Guides.  Recalling scouting days in Don Bosco Kalyani the Commissioner said, ''Don Bosco is my first home in scouting.''  Commenting on Juboree he added, '' Don Bosco's ideal of giving children opportunities to discover their hidden talents match with the ideals of Lord Robert Stevenson Baden Powell.''

Expressing gratitude to the organizers, the camp chief Fr. James Chacko appreciated the discipline and adventurous spirit of the scouts and guides. ''The active participation and interaction with troops from different parts of West Bengal and out of our country made this camp immensely enjoyable,'' the camp chief said.

Anita Bhattacharyya, a Guide from Auxilium School Bandel said, ''I enjoyed all the events in the camp but I will cherish most the interaction with the troops from other schools and learning a bit of their language.''

Ms Anna Lepcha, a teacher from Don Bosco School Malabasey said that the camp instilled confidence in the young scouts and guides. ''On the first day they spoke to no one but by the end of the camp they were talking even with the Vice Provincial.''

The programmes at the concluding ceremony were both ''enlightening and entertaining'' as the Camp Chief had exhorted the campers.  Apart from dances, a skit from Auxilium School Bandel suggested the instances to heal the world.

As various dignitaries spoke, dances were performed and meritorious participants received prizes, the camp at the bank of Hooghly repeatedly reverberated with the Juboree slogan and the Scout clap. Juboree 2013-14 had ended but the New Year had an ideal beginning.
