Mumbai, May. 26. The Salesian Province of Mumbai has been doubly blessed this year. On 24th May, the Feast of Mary Help of Christians, eight young Salesians made their Final Religious Profession before Fr. Godfrey D'Souza, Provincial of the Mumbai province, while earlier in the day twelve young novices had made their First Profession at Salesian Training Institute (STI), Nashik.

The final profession took place in the shrine of Mary Help of Christians at Matunga, Mumbai. The presence of a number of Salesian priests, brothers, members of the Salesian Family and the parents and relatives of the perpetually professed added solemnity to the occasion.

In his homily, Fr. Provincial focused on the importance of the call and the significance of living the evangelical counsels in a world that gives no place for sacrifice and renunciation.  He drew the attention of the newly professed, in keeping with the themes of GC27, to be committed 'God Seekers', 'Prophets of Fraternity' and 'Servants of the Young'.

The eight young Salesians who committed themselves to live faithfully forever as members of the Salesian Congregation were: Velasli Bandya, Evangelo D' Souza, Romero D' Souza, Ranson D' Souza,  Roshan Gonsalves, Justus Mendis  Renold Lemos, Anthony Patole.  Fr. Ajoy Fernandes, Vice Provincial and Fr. Elson Barretto, Economer stood as witnesses at the solemn ceremony.

After the Solemn Eucharist, the Perpetually professed Salesians were felicitated in the school undercroft. The youthful choir of Our Lady of Dolours, Wadala and the meticulous preparations by all the young Salesians added a touch of class to the entire celebration.

The Province hopes and prays that the generosity of these 20 young Salesians will be an inspiration to many youngsters as a 'stimulus and help on the path to holiness' (C.25)
