Shillong, Jan. 28. New Priests' Day Celebrations of Silchar Province was held at Nongpoh Parish on 18th January 2014. It was a memorable event for the faithful of the Parish as this was the first time the New Priests Day celebrations were held in the Ri Bhoi district of Meghalaya.
The highlight of the celebrations was the Holy Eucharist in which the newly ordained priests were joined by 15 other priests and a large number of faithful.  Fr. Paul Olphindro, the vice provincial, Fr. Cyril, the Economer, and Fr. S. Sngi. were present at the celebration. The choir, consisting of the youth of the parish, was particularly impressive.

At the get-together that followed the Eucharist, different institutions and villages felicitated the new priests through songs and cultural dances.

Fr. Paul Olphindro thanked all those responsible for the success of the celebrations and also exhorted the people to continue to pray for the new priests. He called upon the young people to come forward generously in the service of the church and its people by offering their lives like the new priests. The day's program came to an end with a sumptuous lunch, served to all present at the event.
