Bangalore, Nov. 23. A dozen Jubilarians. Triple Jubilation (Diamond Jubilee of Religions Profession, Golden Jubilee of Religious Profession and Golden Jubilee of priestly Ordination). Fifty Rectors and parish priests. A hundred Priests!  That in way sums up the Jubilee celebration of 12 Salesians of Bangalore held on 22 November 2013 at Don Bosco Provincial House, Bangalore.
The celebration began with a solemn Eucharistic Celebration at 5.00 pm. One of the Jubilarians, Fr. Joe Fernandez, presided over the mass, and Fr. Bosco Ponthokan preached the homily. The jubilarians were Br. Neeliara Joseph, Fr. Myladoor Thomas, Fr. Vailatt Thomas, Fr. Vettical Thomas, Fr. Fernandez Joseph, Fr. Puthangady Varghese, Fr. Arimpoor George, Fr. Kadaparambil Devassy, Fr. Kumbukal Binny, Fr. Karianthanam Thomas, Fr. Pathical Jose and Fr. Ponthokan Bosco.

At the beginning of the mass, Fr. Thomas Anchukandam, the Provincial of Bangalore province, led the jubilarians in a solemn procession with lamps in each one's hand. The burning lamps indicated that the lamps which were lit at their first profession and ordination were still burning in their lives.

Two jubilarians, Fr. VV Thomas and Fr. Paul Puthanangady were absent for the day. The congregation could feel the absence of Fr. Paul Puthanangady since he passed away a week before. He was remembered in a special way during the mass when the celebrant, Fr.Joe Fernandez reminded the gathering of his physical absence and spiritual presence during the celebration. Later, during the Felicitation ceremony, Fr.  Thomas Anchukandam asked the gathering to stand up for a minute to pay respects to him in prayer.

The Jubilarians were felicitated with ponnada after the mass. After a brief visual introduction of the Jubilarians, the cultural programme staged by the boys of Bosco, Tumkur, Mysore and KGF added colour and melody to the celebration. The choir formed by the pre-novices of Mysore gave a celestial touch to the Eucharist with their angelic voices. Kudos to Fr. Thomas Koonan, the Vice Provincial who was the organizational mastermind behind the whole celebration.
