Mumbai, May. 2. Don Bosco Balprafula (Talaash Team) organized an awareness campaign on Child rights and Child protection on April 29-30, 2013 at Mumbai's Chhatrapatee Shivaji Terminus (CST) . This came in the context of the increasing number of incidences of abuse and exploitation of children the media have been reporting in different parts of our country in the recent weeks.
The campaigners felt that as citizens of our Country, one's role doesn't end with expressing shock hearing of such untoward happenings or sympathizing with such occurrences. Citizens need to ensure that every child gets his/her childhood, and realize that it is a small yet significant contribution they can make to achieve that goal.

The Purpose of the campaign by Balprafulta was first, to disseminate information and Knowledge to citizens on the issue of Child Protection; and second, to motivate people to come forward to help children who are in difficult situation and act against the people who are violating the rights of vulnerable children.

The Awareness Campaign was inaugurated by Mr. Joshi, Senior  Station Manager of Mumbai CST Railway station; Mr. Ike, Police Sub Inspector (GRP);  Mr. Karandikar, Asst Station Manager; Mr. Bhaskar Phad, Incharge of Coolies;  and Mr. Kasim, Ticket Collector along with his associates.

To make the Campaign a memorable event Children who were repatriated back to their homes from CST Station and are now progressing in their education were invited to the programme and commented for their success. They were also honoured with Certificates of merit.

The Balprafulta Talash team used various methods to reach out to the people, such as Poster exhibition, Pamphlet distribution and street plays.  Poster Exhibition covered issues like child labour, child abuse and problems of the street children and child rights. Throughout the day the Talaash team distributed also pamphlets after raising awareness through some street plays on how the people could support the cause.

Civil citizens on large scale visited the Poster Exhibition and were inquiring on how they could be part of a support group for eradicating the evil trend of Child Sexual Abuse and Child Labour.  Street play depicted the evil atrocities committed against children. These plays were done on different locations at the Railway station attracting large crowds.

The Campaign was indeed a great success as the Balprafulta team was able to reach out to more than ten thousand people, creating in them awareness on Child protection.
