Inauguration Of New Salesian Community Block At Walunj, Aurangabad By Fr. Bento D`Souza sdbMumbai, Feb. 7. All roads led to Aurangabad on the January 19 for the inauguration of the New Salesian community Block at Walunj, Aurangabad MIDC. It had been a dream long overdue, and the main protagonist of the event, Bro. Ramesh Durairaj, spared no pains to see this colorful event take off in Marathwada style, pomp and fanfare. Orangish Red phetas adorned the heads of the Provincial, His council and the movers and shakers behind the construction of this cute and functional residence for Salesians.
The introductory prayer was said by the Provincial. The prayer service of the Blessing was led by Bro. Ramesh Durairaj followed by the unveiling of the Marble Stone by the Provincial. The cutting of the ribbon by the Vice Provincial was followed by the lighting of the Indian Lamp by the council members and prominent members involved in the construction. Thereafter the guests and those who undertook the work in the completion of the building and the officials of the village were felicitated.
A cultural program followed. The children of the Agardgaon village, Bhinagr performed three Bollywood dances. Fr. Manuel Murzello, spoke of the long desired wish to see this project see the light of day which finally has taken place thanks to Don Bosco Mundo, Germany.
Fr Provincial, in his address to the villagers, spoke of the economics of the unskilled labourer in comparision to the pay package of the educated and qualified, and convinced them to aim at being educated, skilled and get the renumeration one deserved for a better life for oneself and one's children.
He told the audience that the target of the Salesians are and will always be the poor and the needy. Fr. Ashley spoke at length on the role of our beneficiaries being contributors to the work of building a more humane and just society by participation and involvement. Fr. George D'Abreo compered the event and gave a fitting vote of thanks.
The yeoman efforts for the success of the project goes to Br. Ramesh and his staff at BGVK who worked long and hard to see this project completed, on time. Right from his time as an aspirant, Fr. Savio Silveria had been informed that land was purchased at Walunj. Today he saw the the dream of seeing a Salesian house there realized due to the work of many partners. Frs. Crispino, Ivan D'Souza and Ivan Rodrigues, Jude D'Mello were witnesses to this well orchestrated event.
One can now truly say that the hand of Don Bosco finally reaches the Marathwada region.
