Don Bosco Youth Animation Meets at Don Bosco, Aluva

Bangalore, Nov. 5. Don Bosco Youth Animation South Asia (DBYASA) had its annual meeting at Don Bosco, Aluva, from 01 to 03 November 2013. The first two days were animated by Fr. Fabio Attard, General Councillor for the Youth Pastoral, and Fr. Robert Simon, from the Youth Pastoral Department in Rome. 17 members of the DBYASA participated in the event organized by Fr. Maria Charles, South Asian Delegate for Youth Ministry.
On the first day, after the customary presentation of the reports, the Youth Pastoral Delegates of the provinces of South Asia shared their understanding of the evolution of youth ministry in their respective provinces during the last six years.  Fr. Fabio then summarised the sharing with his own insights.  In the evening the participants interacted with the post-novitiate community of Don Bosco, Aluva.
On the second day, Fr. Fabio presented to the assembly an outline of the new manual for youth ministry which is the result of a process of Rethinking Salesian youth ministry done by the Congregation.

Later the directors / secretaries of the different youth ministry forums / settings at the SPCSA level, such as the Young at Risk, DBTech, etc. and the coordinators of the different dimensions of youth ministry shared their overview, after which Fr. Fabio again summarized the presentation.

The assembly also found time to felicitate Fr. Stanislaus M Fernandez of the province of Chennai who was one of the pioneers of DBYA.  A book entitled \\''Youth Space, A Handbook for Youth Groups and Animators\\'', published by Fr. Edwin Colaco SDB, coordinator of the Groups and Movements Desk of DBYA was released on the occasion.

In the evening the assembly paid a visit to the relics of St. Thomas, the apostle of India, at Azhikode near Kodungalloor, the place where the saint landed in 52 A.D.
The third day was set aside for the board meeting of DBYA.  

During the rest of the day, led by Fr. Maria Charles, the board considered certain issues pertinent to youth ministry in South Asia.  Certain events being chalked out in view of the bicentenary celebrations of the birth of Don Bosco in 2015 were discussed.
