Elitist Heras Institute Of Indian History Invites Fr Nelson Falcao SDB By Bento D`SouzaMumbai, Oct. 31. The 22nd session of the Indian Art History Congress was held in collaboration with the Heras Institute of Indian History and Culture of St Xavier's College, Mumbai, in association with Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya, from 25th to 27th October, 2013. Dr. Fr. Nelson Falcao, Salesian Priest from Mumbai Province, was specially invited to present the fruit of some of his researches.
Dr. Fr. Nelson Falcao was invited to present the Kristapurana at the Seminar on the Dialogue between Art and Literature. ''Mandir Hinduchi, Murthi Christachi'' was the sutra given by Dr Nelson Falcao to present the reality of the Kristapurana as a fusion synthesis of Art & Literature in action to a gathering of 200 invited participants.
Among those who attended were Shri K Shankar Narayanthe, Governor of Maharastra, Dr Rajan Wellinkar, the Vice Chancellor of the Mumbai University, Dr. R. D. Choudhury, chairman of the Indian Art History Congress, Professor M. N. P Tiwari, General secretary of the IAH Congress, Dr. Devangana Desai, General president of the 22nd IAH congress, Sabyasachi Mukherjee, Director General of the Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya, Mumbai and Dr Joan Rego, Director & Local secretary of the Heras Institute of Indian history and culture.
Fr. Heras was a Spanish Jesuit scholar, visionary & professor of History who inculcated in others a spirit of research and study and the Heras institute carries on his legacy.
A variety of extracts of Indian Art and historical modules were presented at the seminar by eminent specialist and experts from a variety of fields of Art and literature at the National Level.
It was a singular honor and an esteemed privilege for Dr Fr. Nelson Falcao, a Salesian priest, to be invited among this galaxy of scholars to present the Kristapurana as a gift back to the Jesuits.
