NATIONAL BOSCOREE CONCLUDED By Fr. Thankachan Joseph sdbNew Delhi, Jan. 21. The 11th National Boscoree concluded in Dimapur, Nagaland on 2nd January 2011. Rev. Fr. James Poomthuruthil Sdb (The Provincial of St. Francis De Sales Province, Dimapur) was present along with the other dignitaries Rev. Fr. Dominic Sequeira Sdb,( Youth Pastoral team member of Rome) Rev. Fr. Maria Charles Sdb, (Youth Delegate of South Asia), The vice provincial of the province, along with other fathers, sisters scout captains, guide captains, scouts, guides etc. In the presence of the provincial the camp chief Rev. Fr. P.X Francis Lowered the Boscoree Flag and handed it over to the provincial.
During the Concluding ceremony Rev.Fr. James the Provincial of Dimapur thanked Rev. Fr. P.X and his team for the wonderful show they have put up for the participants of 11th National Boscoree. There were about 2000 participants for this Boscoree. The scouts and guides numbered about 1800 and about 200 teachers who accompanied the children from far and wide. The concluding ceremony began at 9.30 a.m. The winners of the National Boscoree was declared in the first place. The winners of Scouts troop was Don Bosco Sulcorna, Goa; and the guides winners were Don Bosco Kokar, Ranchi.
On 22nd Dec. 2010 along with Frs. Davis and Thankachan a troop of 80 students and 10 teachers left for Dimapur to take part in the National Boscoree. Before attending the Boscoree, the school had arranged for them an enjoyable trip to Shillong, Kohima, Guwahati etc. We celebrated the Christmas in Don Bosco ITI. After the Midnight Mass we had the cutting of cake and traditional dances etc. On 26th we reached Dimapur. We spent one whole day for washing and refreshing and local sight seeing etc. On 27th along with students we left for Kohima the capital of Nagaland for 2 days programme. Dec.28th evening we joined back to the boscree camp.
From 29th to 2nd January were really memorable days for all the scout and guides who took part in the National Boscoree. Our children had the opportunity to mix with varieties of cultures and customs. Both Garigaon and Kokar troop managed to bag 33 awards in various events. Congratulations to both the principals and the scout captains and guide captains who prepared them for this great event. We returned to Ranchi on 5th January 2011.
