St. Joseph's Industrial Training Institute, Kurla adjudged best Industrial Training Institute in the Mumbai Region

Mumbai, Aug. 1. Of the 119 Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) in the Mumbai region, St. Joseph's Industrial Training Institute - Kurla (Don Bosco Centre for Learning), has been recognised and awarded 'The Best ITI' by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (M.S.D.E.), Government of Maharashtra, India.

The Institute received the honour from the Governor of Maharashtra, C. Vidyasagar Rao, at an award ceremony held at Sahyadri State Guest House on July 15, which is the eve of World Youth Skill Day.

The institution runs skill-training courses for fitters, machinists, and electricians. 160 trainees enroll in the ITI every year. Twenty-one fitters are currently in training, 16 machinist, 48 motor mechanics, 21 draughtsman mechanics, 26 electronics mechanics, and 21 electricians.

The institution provides youth with unparalleled access to training via industrial tie-ups with industry giants and job placements. ''There is an appreciation of quality training provided by St. Joseph ITI by the state government and all the stakeholders,'' Amarr Prabhu, the Principal of the institution, said.

The foundation stone of the institute was laid on January 30, 1963, the feast of St. John Bosco, the founder of the Salesian congregation. The first course offered was of a general nature called 'Machinist' and it included abilities of turners, fitters and machine operators.
