Hon'ble Speaker Thiru.D.Jayakumar, BSc.B.L, Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly, Mr. E.R.Palini 5th Zone Chairperson & Mrs.S.Nagamma, BA, 22nd Ward Counsellor graced the occasion as guests of Honour.
Hon'ble Speaker Thiru. D.Jayakumar conducted the Swearing Ceremony for the members of Children's Parliament. Following that educational materials were also distributed to the children. The organizers of the celebrations found it a fitting occasion also for the release of a Child Policy document and the Annual Report of Don Bosco Anbu Illam. The document was released by the Hon'ble Speaker Thiru.D.Jayakumar and it was received by the Director of Anbu Illam, Fr. Johnson Bashyam.
During the function the Hon'ble Speaker Thiru.D.Jayakumar stated that he was proud to be an alumnus of Don Bosco School. He was appreciative of the fathers and sisters who work in Don Bosco Society, follow the values, principles and teachings of the its founder and educator Don Bosco. He affirmed that teaching is not to be left only to teachers, but parents need to support and motivate their children for better education. He promised that he would help to build a building at Royapuram Shelter home for homeless Children. His interactive way of speaking to the children touched their hearts. He said that we all need to improve the living standard of children and youth, which will lead to the development of the society at large.
Nearly 800 children, community members, well wishers, Volunteers and DBAI staff participated in the Annual Day celebrations.
