Kolkata, May. 20. Clerics Kullu Roshan, Khalho Sudhir, Rai Solomon and Murmu Charles made their Perpetual Profession at the historic Basilica of Our Lady of Bandel on May 19, 2012.
Fr. Samuel Mondol, welcomed the members of the Salesian Family, the parents and relatives of the Clerics. He underlined the presence of a vast number of young people from the boarding schools at Azimganj and Joypur, the aspirants of Bandel seminary, the parish youth of Bandel and the 'Come and See' campers of the month-long programme at Kalyani. 'Let this ceremony be an inspiration for you young people'' commented Fr. Mondol.

During the homily, Fr. Provincial dwelt on the challenges in answering God's call. Basing himself on the letter of St. Paul to the Corinthians, he highlighted the indispensability of in-depth prayer life to preserve this treasure, focusing on the theme 'we are  treasures in earthen vessels.' He also emphasized that every Salesian is called to be a 'good shepherd' after the heart of Christ.
Post-homily, the clerics made their profession holding  lighted candles and reading out the formula from the hand written text. Fr. Provincial received the vows while Fr. Sunil Kerketta and Fr. Peter Mardy were witnesses.
The choir with the youth of Bandel Parish and the seminarians led by Fr. Ashis Das provided solemn music. After the Eucharist, a short felicitation programme and a fellowship meal ensured joy and festivity.
Earlier in the morning, at Lauds, 14 clerics and a coadjutor Ritesh Xalxo renewed their vows. Fr. Jose Pampadiyil, the Vice-Provincial received the vows. Fr. Thekkel Sebastian and Fr. Dennis Murmu were witnesses. This ceremony marked the conclusion of the May Retreat at Bandel attended mainly by clerics, preached by Fr. Tom Karthikappallil sdb, of the Dimapur Province.
