Guwahati, Aug. 17. The Don Bosco schools of Bengtol and Boko enthralled the audience with a brilliant Brass Band display at the 70th State Independence Day celebration graced by the Chief Minister, a host of eminent personalities representing the Government of Assam and special invitees from all walks of life. The band performance was of superior quality that it not only enthralled the audience but brought astonishment to the viewers at the way the students exhibited their talents.
The Independence Day celebration was marked by a solomn march past followed by Bands by the state police force and the students from selected schools. Don Bosco schools of Bengthol and Boko,  had the rare distinction of being the special invitees among a  few such schools to play the band to add colors to the day. The outstanding band performance on the occasion was viewed with great interest and admiration by all who witnessed the event. During the ceremony, the Chief Minister lauded the students for their outstanding performance saying, ''Excellent .... keep playing''.  Besides the chief minister, other eminent personalities such as the Chief Secretary of the Government of Assam termed the performance as ''top class'', while the Director General of Police opined that the students ''performed with military precision.''

The performance of students was of such caliber that immediately after the parade the Band was invited again to perform before the guests for another ten minutes. The audience was spell-bound at the performance of children that they were greeted with laud applause and cheerful greetings bringing laurels.

It needs special mention that the Bands of these schools have been maintaining a rigorous daily on-campus practice schedule and have been regularly called to perform at important events in these schools and at select events such as Republic Day, Independence Day etc. both at the district and state levels. It is a matter of pride that the Band was invited to perform at the opening ceremony of National Level Sports Competition of Khelo India on 21 January, 2017 in Guwahati. In all of these events, the students have proved their mettle by displaying brilliant performances.
Rev. Fr. V. M. Thomas, the Provincial of Guwahati province of Don Bosco Society, too, was present to witness the scintillating performance displayed by students of two of our prestigious schools in the state. The Don Bosco Society feels proud of these students for their outstanding performance of bands at the stadium and, thereby, bringing laurels to the entire Don Bosco society in the region.
