Father Threnius N. Sangma, SDB ordained a priest

By Father Bivan R. Mukhim
Guwahati, Feb. 3. Father Threnius N. Sangma SDB was ordained Priest by  Andrew Marak DD, Bishop of Tura on 30 January 2016 at St. Peter's Church, Purakasia, South Garo Hills of Meghalaya in the presence of several priests, religious and thousands of faithful.
Bishop Andrew spoke of the call of God and how people must appreciate the call to be a priest. He reminded the newly ordained 'to be holy and to live what one preached.' He quoted the Pope Francis who said that a priest is not an administrator but a person of prayer. He asked that every priest must totally surrender oneself to God in prayer.  He encouraged the newly ordained to reflect and prepare his sermon well and then preach.
The bishop added that good family is important for vocations to priesthood and religious life. The bishop asked the parents to live good Christian lives and encouraged their children to offer themselves at the service of the Church. ''A good Catholic family is the cradle for vocation to religious and priestly life,'' the bishop said.
The newly ordained priest expressed gratitude to God, the bishop, his parents and family members, the Salesian congregation and in particular way to his priest uncle Late Father Dominic N. Sangma, a diocesan priest who encouraged him in his vocation to be a priest.
Father Threnius Sangma celebrated his thanksgiving and first Mass on the feast of Don Bosco in his parish Church. A large number of Salesians joined in the concelebration.
