''The Dreamer'' helps parents to know more about Don Bosco

Guwahati, Nov. 30. Don Bosco School Guwahati held two days' concert on 28-29 November staging a musical ''The Dreamer'', in an attempt to make the legend of Don Bosco known to the students and parents.The concert brought together about 700 students in different roles. It was a united effort of the staff and the students that made the school concert a success. ''The Dreamer'' recreates the live episodes of the great educator, founder, father and a friend of youth St. John Bosco.

The musical revolves around the dream of Don Bosco as a nine year old boy, when the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared to him and showed him how he could change the lives of children with reason, love and religious devotion, and imparting help and guidance. The musical is an extravaganza with eight scenes, eight songs and ten dances.

''The play was staged to commemorate the Bicentenary of the Birth of Don Bosco who gave his talents and energy to help the poor boys in his time,'' said the Rector and Principal Fr. Sebastian Kuricheal.

Prof. Drubajyoti Saikia, Vice Chancellor Cotton College State University who spoke on the occasion lauded the works of the Salesians of Don Bosco. He said that Don Bosco stands for excellence. ''I wish the Salesian priests, brothers and sisters continue the work of Don Bosco to bring transformation to society through education,'' he said.

Fr. VM Thomas, the provincial who watched the play said that he has attended many international concerts, and the concert by this Don Bosco School is no less compared to international standards. He lauded the school management, the teachers, students and parents for working together to make ''The Dreamer'' a success. He asked the parents to encourage their children by giving them opportunities to grow and exhibit their talents.

The overall programme was coordinated by the cohesive efforts of the senior staff members of the school. The play production, choreography, choir and background score, play orchestra, coordination of acts, stage management, sound and light, costumes, stage backdrops, video presentation etc., blended together during the concert, mesmerizing the audience.

The play began with a musical orchestra where 50 boys played hymns to Don Bosco, and concluded with a display of the richness of the North East in which students dressed in traditional attire danced together to the beat of the music.
