ABU Students Trained in Social Media to launch M.A. in Mass Communication

Guwahati, Aug. 8. Assam Don Bosco University (ADBU) held three days of workshop on social media immersion from 4th - 6th August to launch its Masters in Mass Communication called ''Convergent Media & Technologies.'' There were 22 participants from India and abroad - Maldives, Myanmar, and South Sudan.
''It was indeed the best way to launch the convergent media and technologies, by getting students gets immersed in the use of social media right at the start,'' says programme coordinator and Head of Mass Communication Department Fr. C.M Paul.

The first day session introduced the students to social media platforms such as - Blog, Twitter, YouTube, Podcast, and Facebook. The afternoon session saw every student creating his or her social media accounts.

On the second day the emphasis was on audio editing. The Registrar of ADBU Dr Basil Koikara taught audio editing using Free Open Source Software (FOSS) ''Audacity.'' After the lab session each group presented 90 to 120 seconds audio presentation.

On the last day Dr Koikara taught video editing skills using KdenLive FOSS. Students prepared and  presented 90 to 120 seconds videos on ''Sights & Sounds of my place.''
