Festive mood begins for DB university convocation

Guwahati, Sep. 19. The Assam Don Bosco University (ADBU) campus at Azara already wears the festive mood for its second annual convocation scheduled for Saturday 21st September from 4.30 pm to 6.00 pm.

The Don Bosco flags are up on the buildings and in the drive way, giant flex banners are strung in the atrium, flex posters with convocation themes are placed in the lawns and the backdrop for the graduation photo session is all in place. Illumination of the buildings will come on from Friday and will last through Sunday.
Several dignitaries, including state chief minister Tarun Gogoi, other civil and church authorities will be present along with graduating students and their parents.
The convocation address will be delivered by chief guest A. N. Rai, director of the National Assessment and Accreditation Council.

The degrees will be conferred on 298 students of whom 192 students will receive bachelors degree in Engineering and Technology, 16 MTech, 27 MSW, 24 MCA and 39 MBA on that day and the event will be webcast on www.dbuniversity.ac.in.

Medals under various categories will be awarded to 11 outstanding graduates with the highest Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA 8.00 or above) in each programme.

The Chancellor's medal for standing first across the degrees and the vice chancellor's medal for outstanding contribution to campus life will also be awarded on the occasion.
Several commemorative articles like T-Shirts, book marks, emblazoned with the university logo will be available for purchase from counters at the university premises. Order for the Convocation 2013 DVD could be placed at the venue.

Deferred telecast of the convocation is scheduled on Prag News Channel and Dish TV, from 4.30 pm to 5.30 pm on Monday, 23 September, and also on DD Northeast (to be scheduled).

Established in 2008 as the first state university of Assam, ADBU is managed by the Don Bosco Society which has 52 institutes of higher education as well as 123 institutes for Technical & Vocational Training in India.
