Inauguration of Don Bosco School, Boko, Assam By JayaprakashGuwahati, Jul. 10. A new section of Don Bosco School, Boko was inaugurated by Rev.Fr. V.M.Thomas, Provincial of Guwahati and blessed by Rev. Fr. Porcu Mario, a veteran Salesian Missionary of Guwahati Province on 29th June, 2013. The Salesian community of Boko was established in 1993, as a part of Guwahati Salesian Province, and is situated about 65 K.M south-west of Guwahati city.
It was a red-letter day in the annals of Don Bosco School, Boko when its new school building was blessed and inaugurated on 29th June 2013. The extended school building was inaugurated by Fr. V.M. Thomas, Provincial, Guwahati Province. Thousands of people including teachers, students - both present as well as past pupils - parents, religious and lay people gathered for the event.
Fr. Vincent Xalxo, Rector of Don Bosco Community, Boko welcomed all the guests and all present for the occasion. Fr. V.K. Jose who worked in Don Bosco School, Boko for twelve years, Fr. Francis Cheerampan, Fr. P.D. Johny, Fr. Johnson Parackal, Fr. K.J. Thomas and others from the list of invitees were also present.
Fr. V.M. Thomas in his inaugural speech expressed his appreciation for the role played by Don Bosco School, Boko in imparting quality education to the rural children of the area. He urged the children to give their best and dedicate themselves towards their work in order to grow up as fully developed persons.
Fr. Porcu Maria who blessed the new school building gave a brief history of the initial stages of the School. He shared about the sacrifices and struggles the early missionaries had to face in bringing up the school into a reality. He said that he was happy to see the school becoming so big and contributing so much to the children of the region. He pointed out that it was all because St. John Bosco was with them all through.
There was also a cultural Programme exhibiting the many hidden talents of the young children of the school. During the programme Mr. Shantilal and Mr. Amit Jain, past pupils of Don Bosco School, Boko, were felicitated in a special way for their contribution towards the construction of the newly extended school building. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Fr. Saju Kariyil, the Principal of the School.
