ING felicitates Jubilarians

By Father Bivan R. Mukhim
Guwahati, Oct. 16. The Salesian Province of Guwahati gathered around their Jubilarians to 'thank them for the dedicated service to the congregation and the province.' Eight Salesians were felicitated on 15th October at the Provincial House, Panbazar. The eight Jubilarians were, Fr. Punnolikunnel Thomas celebrating his Diamond jubilee of Religious Profession and Golden Jubilee of Ordination. Father Thelekkatt Joseph, Father Puthenpurackal Joseph and Father Arimboor Louis celebrating their Golden Jubilee of Religious Profession. Father Nicodim Aind, Father Pazhayamkottil Peter, Father Plathottathil Benny and Brother Karakombil Louis celebrating their Silver Jubilee of Religious Profession.
The Holy Mass was celebrated by Father Punnolikunnel Thomas the Diamond and Golden Jubilarian. He recalled the great wonder that God has done in his life. He expressed words of gratitude to the confreres for the love shown not only on the day of the jubilee but all through his life.
In the homily, Father Joseph Thelekkatt expressed gratefulness to God and to the province. He thanked Father VM Thomas, the Provincial for his farsightedness in taking forward the province and the vision of Don Bosco in North East India. Being the Provincial Community Day and the Jubilee, Father Joseph in his homily, stressed on the need of building communion in community. ''Since we come from different parts of the country with different mentalities, it is impossible for us to really experience community life in its fullness. Community life is an impossible possibility,'' Father Joseph said. ''We need prayer since prayer is the important source that binds community members together,'' he added. Father Joseph is of the impression that a community that prays together stays together. He invited each member to sacrifice ones ego to build and bring about unity in the community.

In the afternoon, a short gathering was held at the Mama Margaret Hall of Don Bosco School, Panbazar to felicitate the Jubilarians. A welcome song by the youth of Don Bosco Institute added colours to the celebaration. The pre-novices sang congratulations song. Father Bivan R. Mukhim on behalf of the province presented the achievements and expressed words of thanks to each Jubilarian on their 60, 50 and 25 milestones, while Father Ethelbert Minj thanked the Provincial and the council members for their dedication and commitment to the province.
