Priests and Religious trained to be effective in the digital age

Dimapur, Mar. 29. Living, Learning and Leading in the Digital Age: A three day workshop on pastoral communications for priests and religious was organized at Bishop's House, Dibrugarh, from 22- 26 March by Bosco Communications, Dimapur, in collaboration with Bishop's House, Dibrugarh.
The Resource Persons for the workshop were Dr. Gilbert Choondal, HOD, Department of Catechetics and Youth Ministry, Kristu Jyoti College, Bangalore, and Chief Editor of Kristu Jyoti Journal, and Fr. Fr. Robin Gomes, Radio & Television Programmer & Producer based at Kolkata, and former RVA-Manila based Language Program Director, presently Board member of the same (RVA-BSC)
The workshop was designed especially, for all priests and religious involved in pastoral ministry. The 30 participants were taught the various aspects of the media and communications and how the media can be effectively used in the ministry of evangelization, education, and empowerment. Teachings of the Church on Media and communications, Print Media and Pastoral Ministry, Communicative matters in Liturgy, Media Education and Pastoral ministry, Alternative media and pastoral ministry, electronic media and pastoral ministry, media and Catechetics were some of the themes dealt with during the workshop.
The changing scenario of the media environment has much impact on faith and religious practices. The course indeed was a help to put those involved in Pastoral Ministry to be in tune with what is happening, at the same time equip themselves with knowledge and skill required for furthering the mission of the Church.
