Chennai, Nov. 7. The relic of Don Bosco had a brief stopover at Arulodayam Ashram, in A-Kattupadi, near Vellore, yesterday morning. The young and old from the neighbourhood came in great numbers to have a dharshan of the saint's sacred relic and to receive his blessings.
The relic was welcomed by the people on twenty bikes, accompanied by traditional South Indian music with Nadhaswaram at the A. Kattupadi-Arni junction. The roads were draped with colorful festoons and banners. The people and children had queued up all along the route wearing Don Bosco T-shirts, caps, balloons, flags, and shouting ''Viva Don Bosco''. The Relic was received inside the Ashram by the Ashram Guru, Swamy Sitrarasu, the parish priests, the Sisters of St. Anne and other dignitaries. The welcome dance by the girls and a sterling performance by the band of St. Joseph's Primary and High School delighted everyone. Ten girls and five women offered arathi as the casket was placed in the well-decorated Fr. Jaswanthraj Hall. Fr. Jayapalan, the provincial of Chennai Province, along with the ashramities, the parish priest and his council, St. Anne's convent sisters and the parish youth honored Don Bosco with garlands. Fr. Provincial blessed the stone to mark this historic event and a foot path in the shape of number 8 for the good health of mind and body. Fr. Sitrarasu, the Director of the Ashram, led the people in prayer with the help of the parish choir. The people thronged the ashram from near and far from to pay homage and receive blessings from Don Bosco. The vice Mayor of Vellore city and other Panchayath leaders, ward councilors paid homage to Don Bosco. At 11.00 a.m. the relic of Don Bosco left for Aarani.

The people of the locality came in great numbers to feel the healing touch of Don Bosco. Many sick people flocked around the casket with great devotion and hope in their hearts.

Arulodayam Youth Ashram was founded by Fr Jeswantraj SDB and it the only one of its kind in India. It is a centre for youth spirituality following the Indian Saiva-Siddhanta tradition.
