Shillong, Apr. 26. Archbishop Thomas Menaparampil gave a clarion call to the youth of Northeast India to become agents of peace and justice. He was speaking to the 1800 youth delegates who were part of the Don Bosco Bicentenary Youth Expo of the Silchar province currently underway at Shillong.
Citing the examples of heroes who overcame hurdles and did immense good for humanity, Menamparampil invited the youth to ''get rid of hatred, violence and injustice.'' He was speaking at the celebration of the Holy Mass, which he presided over, on the second day of the Expo. The Mass was also an occasion to celebrate the twin-jubilee celebration of Salesian (60 years) and Priestly (50 years) life of Archbishop Thomas. Two other companion-jubilarians Fr. Isaac Mattappillil and Fr. Mathew Tharakan joined the celebration.

The four-day youth Expo organized by Silchar province in connection with Don Bosco's birth Bicentenary celebrations is currently going on at Shillong, 23-26 April, 2015, the first Northeastern city that hosted the Salesians some 93 years ago.

The main celebrant exhorted the young people who had gathered from states of Meghalaya, Assam, Mizoram and Tripura to ''dream big, beyond passing an examination, beyond the sky.'' Citing examples of exceptional personages from history, starting with Lord Jesus, and others like Francis of Assisi and Don Bosco, the Archbishop encouraged the youth of the region to dream of making their lives a ''beautiful experience'' filled with good deeds and concern for others.
