Shillong, May. 9. The province of St. John Paul II, Silchar, held its Post Matric vocation camp at Pastoral centre, Shillong from 26th March to 16th April 2014 under the direction of Fr. Paul Olphindro, the Vice Provincial and Vocation Promoter, and assisted by brothers Anthony Lakra, John Mercolin and David Raju. 18 boys from Assam, Meghalaya and Tripura attended the camp.
The campers actively participated in all the activities like singing, dancing, quiz on Don Bosco and Mary, drawing, skit, Essay writing, fancy dress and treasure hunt. They fully utilized the opportunities they got to showcase their talents and aptitudes. Learning of English was accorded prime importance. They were divided into groups, named after Don Bosco, Don Rua and Don Angel (the new Rector Major).

Visit to the nearby Salesian and  FMA communities made their walks truly ''walks to remember''. In fact some of the sessions were done in various houses during such walks and outings. The young campers were also given opportunity to familiarize themselves with the history of the Church and the Salesian congregation.

The team of animators included  Frs. George Shining, Bernard Pala, James Thyrniang, Surjit Tigga, Festus Shadap, Barnabas Khyriam, Paul Olphindro and Br. Nello Valeri.

The closing of the camp coincided with the 1st death anniversary of Fr. Juan Larrea, a valiant Spanish Salesian Missionary who spent the latter part of his life at Pastoral Centre, Shillong.
