Up-gradation of School and Grand Science Exhibition at Don Bosco Silchar By BIS CorrespondantShillong, Aug. 25. Don Bosco School, Silchar made it to the mammoth task of launching its two day annual Science & Social Science Exhibition on Friday, 23rd August 2013 alongside the official inauguration of the Senior Secondary Section under CBSE.
The event was graced by the presence of Salesian Provincial, Rev. Fr. George Maliekal SDB. While inaugurating the events, Rev. Fr. George said, ''Human mind is the most potent energy house and the students should unleash it in order to make their present and the future more creative and meaningful...'' He exhorted the first batch of Senior Secondary students to be the torch bearers of the institution.
Rev. Fr. Thomas Puliparambil, Principal of the School in his welcome speech highlighted the achievements and aspirations of the school.
Other dignitaries present were Fr. Roy Anthony, Secretary of the Province and Brother Reggie Cherukunnel, Director, Bosco Tech, Silchar.
A well prepared musical and cultural programme packaged the inauguration ceremony, and it was to the delight of all present. The function placed on record the hard work of Fr. Sebastian Palatty, former principal and Fr. Thomas Puliparambil, present principal and their collaborators for achieving the up-gradation of the school into Senior Secondary.
The two day Science & Social Science exhibition displayed a wide variety of creativity by the budding talents of the school. In all there were 41 models of Science and 44 models of Social Science.
The participants were judged by eminent figures of the teaching fraternity including Shri Debasish Bhattacharjee and Shri Krishnajyoti Deb, both from Ramanuj Gupta Junior College, Prof. Debotosh Chakraborty from Assam University and Shri Ranabijoy Das of G. C. College. Hundreds of parents of students and other interested persons visited the exhibition.
